That would be Whiteface is unique in American winter resorts – a place of unrivaled history, uncompromised beauty and uncommon skiing and riding. Surrounded by thousands of acres of Adirondack forest, the Olympic Mountain has by far the greatest vertical in the East as well as a gentler side, with a sheltered trail system for families and beginners.

Hunter Mountain in the Catskills. Party in Tannersville about 2 miles away.

EDIT: Whiteface is nowhere near Long Island. It’s probably about 7 hours from the Whitestone & Throgs Neck to Whiteface. Great place though.
