Is skiing difficult if your a beginner?
asked:
I’m going skiing with school in mid February to Andorra. We went to an indoor ski centre in Manchester for a practice and I found it very hard to stop but then I understood it nearer the end of the lesson. All we did there was to learn to stop and learn to go fast on really small slopes. So, I was just wondering if it is very hard to ski in Andorra compared to a small indoor place.

It shouldn’t be if you go on smaller hills when I ski I usually am always in stopping position (skis spread out but together in front) when I go down a bit harder hills. Hope this helps.

No. Skiing is really easy. It took my one day to get to the big hills (but I live in the Great Plains in USA so we don’t have much big hills) Skiing is easier than snowboarding and because you have poles its easy to get back up if you fall. Just try to not go on ice and you’ll be fine. Don’t go too fast either cuz you’re a beginner. Good luck.

Mostly, it will be the same. At a real hill, the terrain will vary a lot, but there should be a variety of beginner slopes. Just start on the easiest (even the “bunny” slope) until you are comfortable on it (and with getting on and off the lifts). Then ask for the next easiest slope and work you way up. Skiing is the absolutely best sport there is so I really hope you’ll have a great time.

If you did alright on a indoor slope then a real hill should make things a bit easier. Sounds like you have the basic stopping and going down, so given a larger hill you will be able to traverse (ski across) the hill more to control your speed. And it wont be as crowded as indoor slopes generally are!
