We’re going today, and don’t have the time or cash to spend loads on specialty gear just for one day, so help is very much appreciated!!!

Something more water-proof than sweatpants.

For all winter sports outdoors, a water repellent jacket, pants and several thin layers of wick-able clothing, also water repellent(gortex) gloves, and eye-protection (sunglasses, and/or goggles) Wool or smart wool socks, and a windbreaker. Where are you finding “springish” weather this time of year?
Only one pair of socks in your boot, nothing else besides your foot. The boots must fit tight around your foot.
Take a lesson from a professional instructor, not from a friend if you wish to stay friends.

Jim has a great answer:
However, you could get by with any water resistant pants, such as nylon wind pants or something like that. Not sweats, and not jeans.
Definitely gloves or mitts. Snow is sharp, and you will cut your hands if you fall (if the skis don’t).
If it’s sunny, sunglasses are fine, or goggles. The sun really reflects off the snow, doubling or tripling the “brightness”.
You probably already left though…so hope you had fun!!

you’ve already received some great answers, especially jiim&let it snow, so I’m not going to bother but I want to head this answer off before someone suggests it….Do not wear a scarf(I’m constantly seeing this response in like questions). a scarf is not appropriate on any ski hill at any time of the year and if the lift operator is not asleep he will not let you on the chair wearing one.
