Is taking a girl skiing a good date idea?

Mike asked:

I have known this girl for a while (both in college) and want to spend more time with her? Have done dinner so far, but figured instead of a movie next time, that i ask her if she wants to go skiing. Both of us are athletic and like the outdoors. Is that something date like or more friends like?

Only if you go and stay at the place. Think about it, girls **** being cold. You’re only together on the lift and in the lodge. When you’re actually skiing you won’t be able to go as fast as you want to go because you’ll be too worried about losing her in the dust. It can be a good idea if played right.

Depends on if she is into skiing and good at it.

If she’s much of a friend then it will be a good date, especially if it’s something both of you enjoy and would think is fun… nothing more romantic than snuggling up in front of a fire place to get warm after getting cold in the snow. Plan it so that you do more than just ski… like a fire place or something a little cozy to add some flavor and romance to the date.

I think it sounds more date like. You and her could ski for awhile then snuggle up together by a nice warm, cozy fire and get to know each other…..and maybe do some other things.

Hi Mike, what a great date suggestion!

Indeed, when you two both enjoy skiing, sharing that for a day can be a wonderful date.

And you are exactly correct. It is not something to do on say Date 1 or Date 2… You’re still sorta shaking romantic hands on those first few dates. However, by around Date 3, 4, and 5, you want to start looking at sharing some fun activities which you two would enjoy together.

    Skiing:
a few things to contemplate as you prepare to ask her out include
how will you two get there and back?
will it require a weekend away together?
or will it just be a day trip?
    who will pay for what?
    bus tickets?
    equipment rentals?
    food and beverages?

If you two are in college in Vermont or Colorado, going skiing is almost a normal weekend activity which in the rest of the country would be as casual as going to the beach for the day or going hiking. However, for most of the country, it requires at least a protracted full-day Day Trip. If it’s only your second date together, for that long a day together, you two might want to wait until after a few more dates. However, going skiing is indeed a really great date activity.

    Have fun!

    Happy Dating and Relationships!
