What is the skiing like in Killington, Vermont?

s_depper asked:

Hi
I’m planning to head to Killington for some skiing in early feb. Does anyone know what the snow and slopes should be like then?
Thanks

Olivia

I lived in Vermont for ten years the skiing there is the best, in Feb the conditions should be packed powder. Another place to check out is Stowe awesome!!!

LOL you are talking about the east coast. They could be 100% open with packed powder or they could have 25 open with boiler plate ice! I have spent many a day on Killington and pretty much every mountain in New England so it is a tough call on the conditions because it changes so fast. But as for the night life it is a blast there! The Wobbly Barn, Night Spot …ect I am sure there are some more since I haven’t skied there in 10 years but if it is cold and they can make snow then it should be good!

AMAZING!!! But be prepared to wait in lift lines because even though their lifts are amazingly efficient, there are so many people that you will probably be stuck in some long lines. But the snow will almost definitely be great and you will have fun

Your guess is as good as anyones. If you’re there on a weekend it is likely to be crowded. Killington makes a lot of snow so you’ve got a good chance for reasonably good conditions.

The snow should be good and everything will definitely be open. I would expect very cold weather, possibly below zero, you will need to dress accordingly. I would expect packed powder and the slopes should be well groomed. Stay on the access road if you can, lots to do at night restaurants and clubs (Wobbly Barn, Pickle Barrel, Charity’s, Grist Mill). Best skiing I think is off the summit in the canyon area. If you are there a few days you can also try Pico which is a separate ski area which was acquired by Killington a number of years ago. It is a more intermediate mountain where the locals ski and is very big with some good runs.

    Good Luck!

Well, the snow will be fine (hard, maybe icy) and the slopes will be crowded, unless you go on a weekday, it will be less so.

I actually don’t recommend Killington, if you have a choice.

Go further north, to Stowe, or Magic, or Bolton Valley, or Mad River Glen, or Jay Peak. All those areas see fewer crowds from NYC. Anyways, that’s my opinion.
